Kristen Boone named first team All-State by the NCCSIA
CHARLOTTE, NC – UNC Greensboro sophomore Kristen Boone has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Women’s Basketball first team.
Boone, a 5-5 guard from Upper Marlboro, MD (Gwynn Park HS), led UNCG to an 18-12 overall record, a spot in the Southern Conference Tournament championship game and a second place finish in the regular season standings.
Boone was named first team All-SoCon by both the league’s head coaches and media association. She led the conference in steals and ranked third nationally with 3.8 per game. Boone also was second in the SoCon in assists (4.7), fifth in scoring (12.8) and fifth in free throw shooting (.796). She made the most free throws (117) and attempted the most free throws (147). Boone was named a pre-season all-conference selection by the head coaches.
She was named to the NCCSIA second team last season as a freshman.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
NCSSIA selects all-state teams in the University (Division I) and College (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball.
