CHARLOTTE, N.C. - UNC Greensboro senior Lakiah Hyson was named to the All-Southern Conference Tournament Second Team at the conclusion of the SoCon Women's Basketball Championship on Monday.
Hyson averaged 18.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game in UNCG's two contests. The Spartans advanced to the quarterfinal round for the third season in a row.
Against eighth-seeded Western Carolina on Thursday, Hyson had a game-high 20 points, four rebounds and four steals in the ninth-seeded Spartans' 57-55 win.
The guard from Accokeek, Md., followed that up with 16 points and six rebounds, both team bests, in UNCG's 82-64 loss to top-seeded and eventual tournament champion Chattanooga on Saturday.
Hyson hit two 3-pointers in each game and was 4-for-9 from 3-point range for the tournament (44.4 percent). She was also 85.7 percent from the free throw line (12-for-14) in UNCG's two games.
Chattanooga topped No. 2 seed Samford 72-67 in the title game Monday.
