Court at Fleming Gym to be named after former coach Lynne Agee
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG will name the court at Fleming Gymnasium in honor of legendary women's basketball coach Lynne Agee, Director of Athletics Kim Record announced Saturday.
Agee, who retired in March after 30 years at the helm for the Spartans, is the only UNCG women's basketball head coach to have ever coached at Fleming. Agee's teams compiled a 197-80 record at Fleming, good for a .711 winning percentage, and turned in 18 winning seasons in the 22 since Fleming opened in 1989.
"It's only fitting that the court in Fleming Gymnasium bears coach Agee's name," Record said. "From the time Fleming opened in 1989, she made it a tough venue for opponents to play in, as evidenced by the incredible record she amassed there. Lynne Agee has been synonymous with UNCG women's basketball for 30 years, and as the program moves forward in a new direction, we're pleased to have a permanent recognition to her accomplishments and all she's meant to the program. Her former players, colleagues, friends and family were committed to making this a reality."
UNCG won at least 10 games at Fleming eight times in Agee's tenure, including a school-record 12 in 2001-02 and 2006-07. The 2001-02 squad won its first 10 home contests, the second-best Fleming winning streak in school history. Agee directed UNCG to a school-record 13 straight wins at Fleming from Feb. 2, 1998, to Jan. 22, 1999, falling just days short of an undefeated calendar year at home.

Agee's teams suffered just three losses or fewer at home in more than half of her seasons in Fleming, doing so 12 times.
Just this season, UNCG set an attendance record for a women's game in Fleming, drawing 713 fans against College of Charleston on Feb. 12.
Agee finished her 33-year career with a 602-334 record, including a 556-311 mark in her three decades at UNCG. More than 35 percent of her wins at UNCG came on the court at Fleming.
"UNCG was the place to be for me," Agee said at a reception in her honor on Saturday. "Half my life has been here. To think my name's going to stay here, it's just incredible. It's beyond anything I can imagine. Thank you so much for all your love and joy and support over the years. It's been unreal."
