Breonna Patterson Named Blue Chip Performer

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's basketball junior guard Breonna Patterson (Greensboro, N.C./Dudley) has been named this week's Blue Chip Performer sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina. The Blue Chip Performer will be chosen weekly from all sports in season and will run throughout the 2012-13 UNCG athletics campaign. 

Patterson tied her career high with 23 points against Richmond Saturday and was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line. It was the first time since Feb. 11 last season that a Spartan has attempted at least eight free throws and knocked them all down. Jazz Weaver was also 8-for-8 against Appalachian State on that date.

With her offensive output against the Spiders, Patterson improved her scoring average to a team second-best 9.5 points per game. She was the team's leading scorer last season, averaging 11.1 points per contest in 22 games played. Patterson currently ranks second on the squad with 14 steals and is shooting a team-best 86 percent from the free throw stripe – a mark which puts her 65^th nationally (as of Dec. 9).
