Mylton's career-best finish leads UNCG to third place at Fighting Camel Classic

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Ashley Mylton fired a final round 76, nearly pulling off an incredible rally, but finished second to lead UNC Greensboro to a third place finish at the Fighting Camel Spring Classic hosted by Campbell University at Keith Hills CC.

Mylton, a sophomore from Charlotte, NC entered the final day in second place, but trailed by seven shots. She made up five of them, but couldn’t quite catch Georgetown’s Chelsea Curtis, who shot an 81 to hold on for the individual title. Mylton recorded her first ever Top 10 finish. Her previous best was 12th at the 2005 Shamrock Intercollegiate.

Lacy Miller also recorded her first collegiate Top 10 finish by placing eighth with a tournament total of 237. Her previous best was a 16th place tie at the 2005 Southern Conference Championship.

The Spartans finished third as a team with a tournament total of 954. Georgetown won the event with a team total of 937, followed by host Campbell at 950.

UNCG returns to action next Sunday when it begins play in the Pinehurst Challenge hosted by College of Charleston.
