UNCG moves up to 16th place after two rounds at Bryan National

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Battling cold and blustery conditions, tournament co-host UNC Greensboro carded a team score of 315 on Saturday to move up to 16th place after two rounds at the Bryan National women’s golf tournament.

The Spartans got rounds of 78 from Ashley Mylton, Sofia Aidemark and Annelie Weimenhog on Saturday. For Mylton and Aidemark, it was their second consecutive round of 78 to put them in a tie for 46th place among 93 golfers.

Duke’s Amanda Blumenherst, the top-ranked college player, is tied for the individual lead with Purdue’s Maria Hernandez at even-par 144. Blumenherst and Florida’s Whitney Myers were the only two players to record sub-par rounds on Saturday.  Myers is tied with Purdue’s Stehanie Endstrasser one shot behind the leaders.

Florida leads the team standings at 592, ahead of Purdue and Duke by a single shot. North Carolina is fourth at 600. UNCG is in 16th place at 631, but is just 12 shots out of the Top 10 in the tournament that includes 15 of the 50 winningest teams in the nation.

Sunday’s final round gets underway with a shotgun start at 11 am.
