With best Bryan National round since 2001, UNCG finishes 15th
BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C. – Using its best round at the Bryan National since 2001, tournament co-host UNC Greensboro finished 15th at the Bryan National at Bryan Park Golf Club’s Champions Course.
Going up against 15 of the Top 50 winningest teams in the tournament, the finish was UNCG’s best since the 2001 tournament when it finished 15th. The Spartans shot 308 on Sunday, their best single-round team score in the last six years at the Bryan National.
Gabby DiMora, a junior from Auburn, NY, carded UNCG’s best round of the tournament on Sunday, firing a one-over par 73 on Sunday to give her a 42nd place finish.
Purdue won the team title, pulling away late to beat second-place Florida by seven shots. Purdue’s Maria Hernandez won the individual title as well, defeating Florida’s Sandra Gal on the third sudden-death playoff hole. Gal had rallied with a 69 on Sunday to put herself into position for a possible playoff. Hernandez had a one shot lead going into 17, but bogeyed 17 and settled for a par on 18 to force the playoff. However, on the third sudden-death hole, Hernandez birdied 18 to win the individual title.
UNCG will compete next weekend at the Southern Conference Women’s Golf Championship beginning on Sunday at Patriots Point Golf Links.
