Aidemark 19th, Spartans 15th after first round at Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Despite gusty winds throughout the day, UNC Greensboro’s Sofia Aidemark fired a first round 77 to sit tied for 19th in the individual standings after the opening round at the 2006 Lady Paladin Invitational at Furman GC.

As a team, UNCG sits in 15th place after shooting a team score of 325. Northwestern leads the team standings at 302, followed by August State at 304. East Tennessee State is third at 306, with South Florida a shot back, and UNC Wilmington one more back at 308.

Aidemark sits seven shots off of the pace as only three of 89 golfers broke par in the blustery conditions on Friday. Northwestern’s Alice Kim and Coastal Carolina’s Araceli Felgueroso lead the way at two-under par 70. UNC Wilmington’s Carmen Perez is third after firing one-under par 71.

The second round is slated for Saturday morning.
