Spartans third at Myrtle Beach as Mylton and Creed record Top 10 finishes

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Ashley Mylton carded a 72 and Erica Creed shot a 73 on Tuesday to help UNC Greensboro to a third place finish at the Myrtle Beach Classic hosted by Coastal Carolina at Grande Dunes Resort GC.

Mylton’s 72 placed her in a tie for fourth place individually, while Creed, just a freshman playing in her second collegiate tournament, finished in a tie for eighth. Mylton, who recorded the third Top 5 finish of her college career, finished one shot out of a playoff for first place. East Carolina’s Abby Bools won the tournament on the fifth playoff hole after carding a two-day total of 142.

East Carolina won the team title at 578, one shot better than Georgia State. UNCG finished third, carding rounds of 297 and 298 for a tournament total of 595. UNCG’s third place finish was the best among four Southern Conference teams in the tournament.

The Spartans return to action October 15 when they host the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic.
