HILTON HEAD, S.C. - UNC Greensboro carded a final round 308 on Tuesday to finish third at the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship, played at Moss Creek GC's North Course.
The third place finish marked the 10th time in 13 years as a SoCon member that the Spartans have finished in the top 3 at the conference championship. Chattanooga won the team title for the first-time ever with a score of 902, eight shots better than College of Charleston and 16 ahead of UNCG.
UNCG freshman Courtney Taylor, who was named the SoCon Freshman of the Year on Tuesday, finished fifth after her final round 77. She finished the tournament at 226.
Appalachian State's Yue Xu led the tournament wire-to-wire and held on for a three-shot win on Tuesday. Xu shot a final round 76, but held on to outdistance Emma deGroot of Chattanooga, who carded her second consecutive round of 72 to make a late run at Xu. Xu finished at 217.
UNCG's Sofia Aidemark narrowly missed out on a top-10 finish, carding a final round 76 to finish tied for 11th at 228.
