GREENSBORO, N.C. - Tennessee shot an opening round 287 as a team to hold a two-shot lead over Wake Forest after the first round of play at the Bryan National Collegiate at Bryan Park's Players Course.
The Lady Vols were led on Friday by Tennessee's Nathalie Mansson, who is second in the individual standings after shooting a 69. She is one shot behind Wake Forest's Michelle Shin, who has the individual lead after a 68.
UNC Greensboro, tournament co-host along with Wake Forest, is tied for 12th place in the 18-team field that contains 11 teams ranked in the Top 30. The Spartans shot 306 in the opening round to sit in a tie with LSU and Arkansas.
UNCG's Sofia Aidemark is five shots off the lead in a tie for 17th place in the individual standings after an opening round 73. Aidemark had 15 pars on the afternoon, going out in 36 with nine consecutive pars and coming back in with a 37 on the second nine.
Saturday's second round will get underway with tee times at 8:20 a.m. off of Nos. 1 and 10. UNCG will begin play off of No. 10 beginning with the 9:05 a.m. group.
