UNCG in striking distance, third after two rounds at SoCon

HILTON HEAD, S.C.  - UNC Greensboro's round of 304 on Monday kept the Spartans within striking distance entering Tuesday's final round at the Southern Conference Women's Golf Championship.

The Spartans are nine shots back entering Tuesday's final round. College of Charleston rallied late in the day to regain the lead it held to start the day. The Cougars had dropped to second behind Chattanooga, but hold a two-shot lead over the Lady Mocs and a nine-shot advantage over the Spartans entering Tuesday. Chattanooga shot the low score of the day at 297, while College of Charleston shot a 301.

Freshman Courtney Taylor is in fifth place for the Spartans, carding a round of 75 on Monday to sit at 149 through 36 holes. Sofia Aidemark had the low round of the day for UNCG with a 73 to pull up to 11th place at 152.

Appalachian State's Yue Xu still holds the lead through two rounds, shooting a 72 on Monday. She has a four-shot lead over College of Charleston's Ainhoa Nogales entering Tuedsay's final round.

The final round will get underway at 8 a.m. with tee times off of Nos. 1 and 10. UNCG will begin play with 8:50 a.m. grouping off of No. 1.
