Taylor finishes fifth as UNCG moves up to sixth on final day at SunTrust

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Led by freshman Courtney Taylor, UNC Greensboro shot a final-round 292 to move up to sixth place on the final day of action at the SunTrust Gator Women's Invite on Sunday.

Taylor fired a final-round 70 to finish in a tie for fifth place, four shots off the lead. She wound up the tournament at six-over par 216, a school record for a 54-hole tournament.

Chattanooga's Emma deGroot won the tournament in a playoff over Michigan State's Laura Kueny. The two finished at two-over par 212. Taylor's round of 70 tied for the third-lowest round of the day. deGroot had the lowest round of the final round, carding a 68 to storm back and force the playoff.

Michigan State won the tournament with a score of 868, three shots better than Florida State and 11 ahead of tournament host Florida. The Spartans wound up with a tourney total of 901 to finish in sixth place.

UNCG returns to action next Sunday when it begins play at the Southern Conference Championship.
