Creed, Uremovich miss cut at USGA's WAPL Championship
SOUTH BEND, Ind. – UNC Greensboro's Rachel Uremovich and Erica Creed saw their run at the USGA's WAPL Championship come to an end Tuesday at Notre Dame's Warren Course.
Uremovich carded a 77 to finish tied for 90th place at 156, while Creed carded an 83 to finish tied for 140th place at 165. The field of 156 players was cut to 64 on Tuesday night to begin the match play phase of the tournament. The cut was at 152 and included exactly 64 players without any need for tiebreakers.
Uremovich played in the afternoon wave and began her day with two pars and a birdie. She finished the front side at 38, however, after bogeys at Nos. 5, 7 and 8. Two more bogeys at Nos. 11 and 12 just about ended the Hilton Head, S.C. native's chances of sneaking in under the cut.
Creed, a native of Kernersville, N.C. who was making her second career WAPL appearance, played in the morning wave on Tuesday off of No. 10 and played the back side of the course in 41 for the second consecutive day. She closed out with a 42 on the front nine.
