GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG golfers Lizzie Bundy and Courtney Taylor have been named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar team, the NGCA announced on Friday.

Twenty-three UNCG student-athletes named Academic All-SoCon
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Twenty-three UNCG student-athletes earned spots on the spring 2011 Academic All-Southern Conference Team, the league office announced Thursday. The Spartans had a league-best four of the 13 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Senior Erica Creed became the third player in UNCG history finish in the top 11 in three Southern Conference tournaments when she shot a final-round 75 on Tuesday. The Spartans placed sixth in the 10-team event with a three-day total of 956 over the par-72 Moss Creek Golf Club course.

Lizzie Bundy’s 79 was the Spartans’ low score of the day, but the team’s standing was among its best in the 14-year history of the nationally prestigious event.

If you’re going to put together a nationally important college golf tournament, you need a nice course, sufficient hotel space, convenient airline schedules and decent weather, among other things. The Joseph M. Bryan Foundation can’t guarantee the last of those, but its imprint on virtually everything else helps explain why the Bryan National Collegiate, now in its 14th year, has become a highly sought destination for programs from the Piedmont Triad to the Puget Sound.
