Aidemark, Taylor named to NGCA All-American Scholar Team
CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – UNCG women's golfers Sofia Aidemark and Courtney Taylor were named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team on Monday.
A total of 494 golfers were honored across Divisions I, II and III. Golfers must have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better and have appeared in one-half of their teams matches for the season.
Taylor, the 2010 Southern Conference Freshman of the Year, has a 3.68 GPA in hospitality management. The native of Gastonia, N.C. earned All-Southern Conference honors, as well, by finishing fifth in the league in stroke average at 75.41. She recorded five Top 10 finishes in her rookie season, with four of those coming in her final six tournaments of the year. She finished fifth at the SoCon Championship in April.
A senior from Laholm, Sweden, Aidemark graduated with a 3.97 GPA in Communications this past spring. In April, she became the university's first international student to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. Aidemark earned Dean's List seven out of her eight semesters at UNCG and Chancellor's List each of the six semesters she was eligible for it.
Athletically, Aidemark had a 77.72 stroke average in 32 rounds this season. She finished 11th at the Southern Conference Championship last month. Her best finish of the year came at the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, when she finished 10th.
Aidemark, who earned the NGCA honor for the second consecutive year, was also a CoSIDA Academic All-District at-large selection for the second straight year.
