JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Begonia Sarabia fired a 1-over-par 73 to lead the UNCG women's golf team in Saturday's second round of the 54-hole JMU Eagle Landing Invite. The Spartans began the day in a sixth-place tie finished it in ninth in the 18-team field.

Sarabia was one of four Spartans who improved upon their Friday scores, joining Erica Creed, Lizzie Bundy and Ana Lucia Martinez in that department. UNCG's team score of 305 represented a one-stroke improvement over Friday, but the team lost ground, relatively speaking. Chattanooga (581) owns a 13-stroke lead over East Carolina. The Spartans (611) are two up on the host team, James Madison, and 10 ahead of fellow Southern Conference member Elon.

Sarabia's round was her best since a season-opening 73 in the University of Florida's Lady Gator event last week.

Courtney Taylor, whose opening-round 71 was good for a second-place tie through 18 holes, shot a 77 on Saturday. She's still in the top 10 and seven shots behind the individual leader, Christine Wolf of Chattanooga.

Play concludes Sunday at the par-72, 6,282-yard design at the Eagle Landing Golf Club.
