GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG women's golf opens their 2012 spring season when they visit the Palmetto State for the 2012 Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic hosted by College of Charleston, Feb. 26-28 at Oak Point and Cougar Points Courses.
The Spartans are coming off perhaps their strongest fall season in history, enjoying four top five finishes, including a victory at the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island in late October.
Freshman Fanny Cnops took the Southern Conference by storm in the fall, with four top 10 individual finishes including a victory at the Palmetto Intercollegiate. Cnops enters the spring as the nation's 30th-ranked individual according to Golfstat.com. Cnops is fifth among all freshmen.

Tournament Notes: UNCG (78) is one of eight top 100 teams in the field … the other are: Campbell (58), Augusta State (71), UALR (73), Middle Tennessee (80), Longwood (83), College of Charleston (95) and Newberry, ranked 11th in Division II … this is UNCG's first appearance at the Edwin Watts/Kiawah Island Classic … Cnops fired a 7-under par 209 in winning the Palmetto Intercollegiate at Kiawah Island last October.
