Spartans move up on day two of JMU Invitational

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – UNCG fired a second round 295 and moved up two spot to sixth overall during day two of the JMU Invitational, Saturday at Eagle Landing Golf Course.

The Spartans own a two-round total of 599 (304-295) and trail overall team leader South Florida (584) by 15 strokes. Maryland (585), Illinois (596), East Carolina (596), and Campbell (598) round out the top five teams.

Freshman Fanny Cnops turned in the tournament's top round of the day for UNCG, carding a 3-under par 69 and moving up seven places to fourth in the individual standings at 143 (74-69). Cnops trails individual leader Kaylin Yost (141) of Campbell by two strokes.

Ana Lucia Martinez is tied for 14th after a 73 on Saturday put her at 148 (75-73). Courtney Taylor is tied with Martinez at 148 after shooting an even-par 72.

Berglind Bjornsdottir is tied for 73rd after an 81 left her at 160, and Begona Sarabia is tied for 79th at 161.

Playing as an individual, Kelly Berry shot a 91 and is tied for 100th.

The third and final round is on Sunday.
