Cnops 39th after first round of NCAA East Regional
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – UNCG women's golf standout Fanny Cnops fared well on day one of the NCAA Eastern Golf Regional on Thursday, shooting a 3-over par first-round score of 75 in her postseason debut.
With two rounds left to play at the Penn State Blue Course, Cnops is sitting tied for 39th place in a field of 124 competitors.
Katerina Ruzickova of Texas A&M is leading the field after one round of play. She shot an impressive 5-under par 67 Thursday and leads Maryland's Juliet Vongphoumy by just one stroke.
The team competition is being led by 25th-ranked South Carolina. Collectively, the Gamecocks are even par after the first round, as they hold a four-stroke lead over Alabama, the second-ranked team in the country.
Round two will get under way Friday at 7:30 a.m., while Cnops will tee off at 12:45 p.m.
