Women's Golf Travels To Landfall Tradition At UNCW
WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCG women's golf team hits the course for the final time in the fall season as it travels to Wilmington, N.C., to take part in the 11th annual Landfall Tradition hosted by UNCW at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall October 26-28. The 54-hole stroke play event will hold single rounds each day with tee times set to being at 8:30 a.m.
The 16-team field includes 11 teams ranked in the Top 30 by Golfweek defending Landfall champion No. 14 Purdue, host UNCW, No. 4 Arizona, No. 5 Duke, Florida State, No. 28 Iowa State, No. 12 Michigan State, No. 30 Mississippi, No. 11 N.C. State, No. 20 Northwestern, No. 19 Notre Dame, Ohio State, No. 17 Oklahoma State, South Carolina, No. 24 Texas Tech and Wake Forest. The teams will play the par-72 course at 6,138 yards that was designed by legendary Jack Nicklaus in 1990.
The Spartans are led by sophomore
Fanny Cnops (Gent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) at the No. 1 spot. Cnops leads the Southern Conference in stroke average for the second straight year, posting a 72.29 averaged through seven rounds. She posted a 15
th place finish in the rain-shortened Lady Pirate Intercollegiate, shooting a score of 74 in the event's lone round.
Sophomore
Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik) has posted a 76.40 stroke average this season through 10 rounds. Bjornsdottir also posted a 15
th place finish at ECU with a score of 74. Senior
Courtney Taylor (Gastonia, N.C./Ashbrook), freshman
Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) and sophomore
Morgan Cranford (Greensboro, N.C./Grimsley) round out the Spartans' lineup at the Landfall Tradition this week.
