Women's Golf Heads To Mountain View Collegiate

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's golf team returns to action this week as the Spartans travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the 15th-annual Mountain View Collegiate co-hosted by Missouri and Kansas State March 15-16 at the Mountain View Golf Club. The 15-team field will play 36 holes Friday beginning with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start and concludes Saturday with the final 18 holes beginning with a 7:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The field at the Mountain View Collegiate includes the College of Charleston, Colorado State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Redlands CC, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas Tech, Wichita State and Wyoming. The par 72 course at the Mountain View Golf Club will play at 6,227 yards

The Spartans are coming off their top finish of the season, posting a fifth-place showing at the Kiawah Island Classic March 3-5. Leading the way for UNCG was sophomore Fanny Cnops (Gent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) who notched a third-place finish, firing a 3-over par 221. Cnops highlighted her tournament with a second round score of 69 and enters the Mountain View Collegiate with the lowest stroke average of any golfer in the Southern Conference at 73.07.

Senior Courtney Taylor (Gastonia, N.C./Ashbrook) finished 21st at the Kiawah Island Classic with a 228 (77-77-74). Taylor turned in the top moment of the season in the Palmetto state as she recorded her first career collegiate hole-in-one in the first round of the tournament. She accomplished the feat on the 12th hole, hitting a 4 Hybrid club on the 156-yard hole.

Rounding of the Spartans' lineup for the event include freshman Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton), sophomore Berglind Bjornsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland/Menntaskolinn I Reykjavik) and sophomore Andrea Rangel (Bogota, Columbia/Colegio la Presentacion). Additionally, freshman Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) will play the event as an individual performer.
