Cnops Sits In Third After 36-Holes At Mountain View Collegiate
TUCSON, Ariz. – The UNCG women's golf sophomore Fanny Cnops (Gent, Belgium/K.A. Voskenslaan) posted a 1-under par 143 to sit in a tie for third place overall after 36 holes on day one of the 15th annual Mountain View Collegiate hosted by Missouri and Kansas State at the Mountain View Golf Club in Arizona. The 15-team field will conclude the 54-hole event Saturday with the final 18 holes beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start.
Cnops opened the tournament with a 1-under par 71 in round one before following that up with an even par 72 in round two. She is currently tied with three other players at 1-under par while trailing both Krista Puisite of Texas State and Kaitlen Parsons of Northern Arizona for the top spot at 4-under par.
UNCG finished day one in 13th place overall with a 609 as the Spartans posted a 301 round one score and a 308 round two score. Texas Tech leads the event with a 573 (280-293) while Northern Arizona is second with a 575 (289-286). The Spartans lead Southern Conference foe the College of Charleston by one stroke (610=310-300).
Senior Courtney Taylor (Gastonia, N.C./Ashbrook) sits in a tie for 34th place overall with a 5-over par 149. Taylor opened the tournament in impressive fashion with a 1-under par 71 before finishing up with a 6-over par 78 in round two. Freshman Sammie Buchanan (Bluffton, S.C./Bluffton) is in 65th place overall with a 158 (78-80) while classmate Lily Crane (Jamestown, N.C./Ragsdale) is in 59th place as an individual with a 156 (78-78).
The field at the Mountain View Collegiate includes the College of Charleston, Colorado State, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, North Texas, Northern Arizona, Redlands CC, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas Tech, Wichita State and Wyoming. The par 72 course at the Mountain View Golf Club will play at 6,227 yards
