UNCG remains ranked in both major regional ranking polls
GREENSBORO, NC – The UNC Greensboro women’s soccer team remains ranked in both major regional polls following a week in which the Spartans split a pair of Southern Conference contests. UNCG is ranked eighth in the NSCAA Southeast Regional poll while the Spartans claimed the 11th spot in the Soccer Buzz Southeast Regional poll.
The Spartans (8-5-0, 4-2-0 SoCon) dropped a 1-0 decision at Chattanooga Friday night before rebounding Sunday afternoon with a 3-0 shutout over Georgia Southern. Shannon Donovan netted the game-winning goal and later collected an assist to give her three points on the afternoon. Becca Voss scored her first career goal in her first career start to give the Spartans a 2-0 advantage. Senior Cara Hammond capped UNCG’s scoring as she collected her team-leading fifth score late in the second half.
UNCG returns to action Sunday afternoon when the Spartans take to Davidson to take on the first place Wildcats in a 2 pm matchup. The Spartans are 7-1 one in games played in Davidson.
