Shannon Donovan named SoCon Womens Soccer Player of the Week
SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro senior midfielder Shannon Donovan has been named the Southern Conference women’s soccer Player of the Week for her role in the Spartans’ two conference wins last week.
Donovan, a native of Melville, NY, tallied two goals and two assists for the Spartans who now hold sole possession of first place in the SoCon with a conference record of 6-0-1 and are 7-7-2 overall.
Donovan recorded an assist on a goal scored by Kelly Attayek in UNCG’s 2-0 win over Appalachian State on Thursday. On Sunday, Donovan scored two of the Spartans’ four goals in their 4-1 victory against Davidson. She also had a hand in Christine Jodrie’s game-winner in the 43rd minute of the match.
For the season, Donovan has collected a total of four goals and three assists and is second on the team with 11 total points. Donovan is also among the league’s leaders in assists and points per match (0.85).
The Spartans host Furman on Saturday for their last home regular season match. Kickoff set for 7 pm.
