UNCG’s Player named to Soccer Buzz Team of the Week

GREENSBORO, NC – UNC Greensboro women’s soccer player Kristin Player was named to the SoccerBuzz Magazine Elite Team of the Week for the first week of the season.

Player, a freshman forward from Placentia, CA, has been awarded the recognition due to her exploits on the field in last week’s matches. In both the 2-0 win against No. 27 William and Mary and the 2-0 victory over Central Michigan, she fired in the game-winning goal. She was also credited with an assist on the second goal against CMU.

Player and Georgia’s Caroline Simpson were the only freshman named to the team this week. Player also earned Southern Conference Player of the Week for her efforts last weekend. This marks the freshman’s first Soccer Buzz honor.

UNCG will look to increase its two-game win streak as the Spartans travel to Boca Raton, FL, this weekend for the Florida Atlantic Tournament. The Spartans will take on Northwestern on Friday night and Ball State on Sunday afternoon.
