UNCG's Donovan named SoCon Women's Soccer Player of the Month
SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro forward Katelynn Donovan was named the Southern Conference's Women's Soccer Player of the Month for October on Thursday.
Donovan, a senior from Melville, NY, tallied 22 points in nine matches as UNCG was a perfect 9-0-0 for the month. She had 10 goals and two assists for the Spartans. Four of her goals were game-winners as the Spartans completed their third consecutive unbeaten conference slate – a feat achieved by only eight other programs in the history of collegiate women's soccer.
Donovan scored 22 of her 28 points in Southern Conference regular season play. She tallied 10 goals and two assists in 11 league matches this season. She is currently this in the league in scoring with her 28 points on 12 goals and four assists. She is the ninth player in school history to record at least a dozen goals in a season.
Top-seeded UNCG goes in search of its seventh Southern Conference Women's Soccer Tournament title when it faces fifth-seeded Furman in the first semifinal Friday at 4:30 pm.
