NC State transfer Partenheimer, local product Gulledge to join Spartans

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNC Greensboro's women's soccer team has added NC State transfer Stephanie Partenheimer and local product Jessi Gulledge for the 2009 season, coach Eddie Radwanski announced Friday.

Partenheimer, the younger sister of rising UNCG junior Jenn Partenheimer, will enter as a redshirt freshman after sitting out the 2008 season for the Wolfpack with injury. Gulledge, from nearby Jamestown, N.C., will be a true freshman.

Stephanie Partenheimer was a four-year letterwinner at Apex High School in Apex, N.C., taking second-team All-Tri 9 Conference honors in 2006 and 2007 and first-team laurels in 2008. The 5-5 midfielder/forward was also a first-team all-region and all-state performer as a senior, when she played in the East-West All-Star Game and the Clash of the Carolinas.

Partenheimer helped lead the Cougars to conference titles in each of her four years on the squad, and won a 4A state title with Apex in 2007.

As a member of the '89 CASL Spartan Elite club squad, Partenheimer was part of teams that won NCYSA state championships from 2003-06 and again in 2008. She was a member of the North Carolina ODP team, the ODP Region III pool team and the USL Super Y South Atlantic Regional ODP team in 2006.

Gulledge, a 5-8 forward, was a four-year letterwinner for Ragsdale High School, earning All-Mid Piedmont Conference and all-region honors from 2006-08. In addition to helping the Tigers to three conference championships, Gulledge also played one year of volleyball and two of track, leaving Ragsdale as the school record-holder in the 4x400.

On the club level, Gulledge played two years for the Greensboro Twisters, helping the squad to a pair of state titles. She was named to the '91 Super Y national finals all-tournament team in 2007 and was a member of the '91 North Carolina ODP regional camp in 2008.

Partenheimer and Gulledge join Nitang Jones, Lauren Hein, Cat Barnekow, Tabitha Padgett and Katie Durst in the Spartans' incoming class.
