UNCG climbs two spots in NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's women's soccer team jumped up two spots to No. 22 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Hendrickcars.com National Rankings after winning twice last week.

The Spartans beat The Citadel 3-0 on Friday and College of Charleston 2-1 on Sunday.

Winner of eight straight games, UNCG is off to a school-record 11-1-1 start, including a 6-0-0 mark in Southern Conference play. The eight-game winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest active streak in the nation.

UNCG is one of just 20 teams nationwide with at least 11 wins, and its .885 winning percentage is tied for seventh in NCAA Division I.

The Spartans entered the NSCAA poll for the first time since 1997 at No. 24 on Oct. 5. UNCG is also ranked in the Soccer America poll, checking in at No. 20 this week. In addition, UNCG is a season-high 23rd in this week's TopDrawerSoccer.com Women's Tournament 64 Ranking, a projection of the NCAA tournament bracket, and is receiving votes in the Soccer Times Top 25.

First-place UNCG continues SoCon action on Friday, Oct. 15, at Wofford in Spartanburg, S.C. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
