NSCAA/Hendrickcars.com poll has Spartans at No. 21 this week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG's women's soccer team climbed one spot to No. 21 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Hendrickcars.com National Rankings after winning twice last week.

This week is the third straight for the Spartans in the NSCAA poll. UNCG entered the poll for the first time since 1997 on Oct. 5, checking in at No. 24. The following week, the Spartans jumped two spots to No. 22.

UNCG has won 10 straight games to improve to 13-1-1 on the season, including an 8-0-0 mark in Southern Conference play. The Spartans' current winning streak is only the third in school history of 10 games or more and is the fourth-longest active streak in NCAA Division I.

The Spartans topped Wofford 3-0 on Friday and Furman 4-1 on Sunday to maintain its place atop the SoCon standings.

UNCG is one of just nine teams nationwide with at least 13 wins, and its .900 winning percentage is tied for sixth in NCAA Division I with two-time defending national champion North Carolina.

The Spartans are also ranked by Soccer America poll, as they sit No. 19 in that poll.

UNCG returns to action Thursday when it will host Western Carolina at 6 p.m. at UNCG Soccer Stadium. That contest will serve as Senior Day for seniors Katie Evans, Jenn Partenheimer and Jen Rincon, as well as student assistant coach Barrie Vogel, who was a goalkeeper for the Spartans from 2007-09.
