Women’s Soccer Announces 2013 Spring Schedule

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Showdowns with three ACC teams and an Alumni weekend at the UNCG Soccer Stadium highlights the UNCG women's soccer team's 2013 spring schedule announced Thursday.

The Spartans, who won the 2012 SoCon regular season title, will head to Raleigh, N.C., to face ACC foe N.C. State Sunday, Feb. 23 at 5 p.m. UNCG will then return home for a double-header against Duke, who made the NCCA quarterfinals, and SoCon rival Elon Thursday, Feb. 28 at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively.

"Our spring schedule gives us a great chance to look closely at the development of our players playing a range of teams both home and away," said head coach Steve Nugent. "Our spring philosophy is about focusing on the individual development of each player and playing the likes of Duke, Wake, Elon, NC State, and Gardner Webb will give the girls a great forum to challenge the goals they have set for themselves.  We are very excited to be inviting back our Alumni in April for the annual Alumni weekend of games and fun."

UNCG will host its third ACC opponent in Wake Forest, who made the second round of the NCAA tournament last season, Saturday, March 23 at 6 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium. The Blue and Gold will also play Gardner Webb Saturday, April 6 at 6 p.m. at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The spring slate will conclude with the annual Alumni game Saturday, April 13 at 10 a.m.
