Appalachian State edges UNCG, 4-3, in women's tennis action Sunday
BOONE, NC – UNC Greensboro’s Whitney Miles, Erica Zabkar and Sarah Templeton picked up singles wins, but Appalachian State won the other three singles matches and two of the three doubles pro-sets to earn a 4-3 win over the Spartans in Southern Conference women’s tennis action Sunday afternoon.
Miles pulled out a three-set win over Monica Tomas, 7-5, 2-6 and 10-7 in the third-set tiebreaker. Zabkar and Templeton each picked up straight-set wins. Zabkar defeated Victoria Moody by identical 6-2 scores, while Templeton defeated Frances Blanton, 7-5 and 6-3.
Having completed its regular season, UNCG will await its seeding for the 2006 SoCon Tennis Championships, which will be held April 20-23 in Charleston, SC.
