Spartans fall to rival Charlotte, 5-2

GREENSBORO, NC –  Erica Zabkar and Valerie Behr earned singles wins, but Charlotte won the other four singles matches and all three doubles pro-sets to record a 5-2 win over UNC Greensboro in women’s tennis action Thursday afternoon.

At No. 2 singles, Zabkar defeated Kathy Robey by identical 7-5 scores. Behr needed a third set to top Yana Stoeva, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0, including a 10-8 score in the tie-breaker.

But after Charlotte (8-9) had already earned the doubles point by winning the three doubles matches, the 49ers won the remaining four singles matches in straight sets to come away with the win.

The Spartans (9-11) will close out the regular season next Monday when they host Liberty at 3 pm.
