Doughtery wins twice as UNCG women's tennis opens Fall slate

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNC Greensboro's women's tennis team opened its fall tournament slate at the UNCW Invitiational on Friday afternoon and freshman Lucy Doughtery made quite the first impression with a pair of wins to open her collegiate career.

Dougherty, a freshman from Melbourne, Australia, teamed up with Sarah Templeton for an 8-6 doubles win over UNC Wilmington's Chelsea Kahle and Caroline Farrar. UNCG also got another doubles win from Brittney Cloer and Jess Eblen, an 8-3 triumph over Furman's Jennifer Betts and Brook Mosteller.

Play continues Saturday morning at 9 am. The tournament runs through Sunday.
