UNCG opens play at ITA Southeast Regional

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – UNC Greensboro's Lucy Dougherty and Britney Cloer dropped opening round pre-qualifying matches on Wednesday at the ITA Southeast Regional held on the Wake Forest University campus.

Dougherty dropped a three-set decision to Middle Tennessee State's Alex Dachos, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2. Cloer retired in her match against Tennessee Tech's Tatiana Denezhkina after dropping the first set 6-4.

Thursday's qualifying bracket action will see Cloer try to return for doubles action along with her partner Jess Eblen at approximately 2 pm. Alejandra Guerra and Arielle VonStrolley will also have a doubles match at approximately 3 pm. VonsStrolley will also open singles play at approximately 9:30 am. Valerie Behr will play in a singles match at 8 am and then return for doubles action at approximately 4 pm alongside Dougherty.

Guerra, who became the first Spartan to ever receive a preseason ranking from the ITA last month, will not being singles play until the main singles bracket gets underway later in the weekend.
