UNCG closes out play at UVA Invite with two wins
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – UNC Greensboro's Alejandra Guerra and Valerie Behr finished out the weekend with singles wins on Sunday, the final day of the UVA Fall Invitational women's tennis tournament.
Guerra, ranked No. 114 in the ITA's preseason rankings, closed out her weekend with a win over Gira Schoefield of South Carolina. Schoefield retired in the first set, holding a slim 4-3 lead. Guerra finished the weekend 2-1, having her 18-match win streak snapped on Saturday.
Behr topped Marshall's Catherine Kellner of Marshall by identical 6-4 scores to earn her second win of the weekend. VonStrolley dropped her second match of the weekend, falling to Neela Vaez of Virgina, 0-6, 6-4, 6-1, and finished the tournament 1-2.
UNCG returns to action at the ITA All-American next weekend in Los Angeles.
