Spartans roll to opening day win

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Lucy Dougherty and Valerie Behr cruised to easy victories at the top of the UNC Greensboro line-up as the Spartans cruised to a 7-0 opening day win over Winston-Salem State in women's tennis action Sunday afternoon.

Dougherty topped Johanna Nunez at No. 1 singles, 6-0 and 6-0, while Behr was equally dominant against Kayla Carter at No. 2 singles, winning by 6-0 and 6-0.

Stephanie MacFarlane, Mikayla Rogers, Annette Rios and Sasha Skripina all earned straight-set victories as well as UNCG won its opening match of the spring season.

The Spartans return to action February 20 when they play a doubleheader, facing UNC Asheville and North Carolina on that day.
