Dougherty picks up three wins to lead UNCG on second day at UNCW
WILMINGTON, N.C. - Lucy Dougherty advanced to a singles final and won a doubles title alongside Valerie Behr to highlight the second day of action for UNC Greensboro at the UNCW Women's Tennis Fall Invitational.
Play was plagued for the second straight day by weather. However, UNCG's Dougherty won twice in singles Flight B1 to advance to Sunday's final after teaming up with Valerie Behr to defeat Kim Webb and Maria Camberos of Coastal Carolina, 8-3.
Annette Rios will also play in the Flight B3 final, while Mikayla Rogers is hopeful of playing in the B2 singles final on Sunday. Rogers' match with Gabi Vergara from Charlotte was suspended with Rogers already having won the first set. Rios picked up straight-set wins over Charlotte's Candace Cunningham and Coastal Carolina's Shelby Bates on Saturday.

Flight B1: Lucy Dougherty (UNCG) def. Brooke Pletcher (Charleston Southern) 6-1, 6-2; Lucy Dougherty (UNCG) won by default over Amalia Bugge (Mercer).
Flight B2: Mikayla Rogers (UNCG) def. Priscillia Dias (Mercer) by injury default (0-1, ret.); Mikayla Rogers (UNCG) vs. Gabi Vergara (Charlotte) susp. with Rogers leading 7-5, 1-1.
Flight B3: Annette Rios (UNCG) def. Candace Cunningham (Charlotte) 6-2, 6-4; Annette Rios (UNCG) def. Shelby Bates (Coastal Carolina) 6-3, 6-2
