UNCG downs Longwood to move to 3-1 on the season
GREENSBORO, N.C.- UNC Greensboro cruised through five wins in singles play to defeat Longwood, 6-1, in nonconference women's tennis Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans raised their spring dual record to 3-1 on the year. Alex Whitehead, playing ahead in the lineup due to an injury to Lucy Dougherty, cruised to a 6-4, 6-2 win over Zsofia Jakab at No. 1 singles to lead the way. Whitehead also teamed up with Stephanie Macfarlane for an easy doubles win over Jakab and Allison Shulman, 8-2.
Valerie Behr, Anettie Rios and Jessica Eblen also won in straight sets, while Macfarlane won her match by retirement.
The Spartans return to action on Thursday when they host a rescheduled match against East Carolina at 2:30 p.m.
