Wilkins moves to semifinal round at USAFA Invitational
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – UNCG's Niltooli Wilkins ran her record to 7-1 on the fall slate with a win Friday to gain a bid in the semifinals at the USAFA Fall Invitational women's tennis tournament.
On the day, the Spartans went four of 10 singles matches. Anette Rios won an opening round match in Flight D, but then lost in second round action in a three-set match. Mikayla Rogers and Dilara Yurtkuran also won opening round matches in Flight E, but fell in the second round.
Wilkins, a redshirt sophomore, topped Sarah Landsman, 6-2 and 6-3, to move into Saturday's semifinal round. She will face Erin Karonis from Iowa State at 9:15 a.m. MT.
Alex Whitehead and Stephanie Macfarlane led the win in doubles action, picking up a pair of wins to earn a spot in Saturday's semifinal round. Overall, the Spartans went 4-2 in doubles action on Friday.
