Three Spartans earn spots in the finals at USAFA Fall Invitational
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – UNCG's Niltooli Wilkins, Alex Whitehead and Stephanie Macfarlane earned spots in Sunday's
championship matches at the USAFA Fall Invitational with wins
during Saturday action.
The Spartans went 6-4 on the day, including a 4-3 mark in singles
play.
Wilkins will play in the Flight 1 final after defeating Erin
Karonis of Iowa State in a three-setter, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3). She
will face Veronica Popvici of Wyoming in the finals on Sunday
morning.
In doubles flight 1, Whitehead and Macfarlane topped Maria Fernanda
Macedo and Tessa Lang of Iowa State, 8-5, to earn a spot in the
finals. They will face Pavlina Smatova and Patricia Skowronski of
Oregon in Sunday's final.
