Women's tennis to finish fall season at Kitty Harrison Invite
UNCG at the Kitty Harrison Invitational, Nov. 4-6, Chapel Hill, N.C.
Storylines
- UNCG's women's tennis team will complete its fall schedule this weekend at the Kitty Harrison Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C., sending eight of its nine players to the event, hosted by North Carolina at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
- The Spartans will send Lucy Dougherty, Stephanie Falcon, Kayla Gammie, Annette Rios, Devon Sutherland, Alex Whitehead, Niltooli Wilkins and Dilara Yurtkuran to Chapel Hill for the tournament.
- UNCG was last in action at the USTA/ITA Carolinas Regional Championships on Oct. 20-22, also in Chapel Hill. Wilkins advanced to the round of 16 in singles play before falling to Clemson's Nelly Ciolowski, who is ranked 83rd in the country. Whitehead fell in the round of 32 to No. 32 Keri Wong, also of Clemson. In doubles play, Wilkins and Dougherty reached the round of 16.
- Falcon is off to a spectacular start to her collegiate career, as the freshman is 8-1 in singles play so far this fall. Wilkins is 7-4 and is 1-2 against ranked opponents, while Sutherland is off to a 6-4 start and Gammie is 4-2.
- Dougherty and Wilkins are 7-3 in doubles play so far, with a win over a top-10 team in the mix. The duo of Whitehead and Yurtkuran is 3-0, while Rios and Yurtkuran are 3-1. Falcon and Sutherland are 4-2.
