CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – UNCG's women's tennis team turned in a solid finish to its fall slate Sunday, winning eight of its 11 matches on the final day of North Carolina's Kitty Harrison Invitational at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Niltooli Wilkins took home third-place honors in singles play.

The Spartans went 6-1 in singles Sunday, sweeping three matches from Southern Conference foe Furman and taking three of four from Marshall.

Against the Paladins, Stephanie Falcon, Devon Sutherland and Kayla Gammie picked up wins. Falcon defeated Kelly Sullivan 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 (5), Sutherland cruised past Susan Bitetti 6-3, 6-0 and Gammie nabbed a 6-4, 7-5 win over Jenny Porter.

Wilkins took a 6-3, 6-2 win over Dominika Zaprazana of Marshall, while Alex Whitehead picked up a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Karlyn Timko. Lucy Dougherty rebounded from a first-set loss to defeat Kristina Koprcina, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10). Kara Kucin picked up the Thundering Herd's lone win over UNCG, topping Dilara Yurtkuran by a 6-2, 6-0 score.

In doubles action, NC State's Tatiana Illova and Elisha Hande edged Wilkins and Dougherty, 9-7, while Whitehead and Yurtkuran eked out a 9-8 (5) decision over the Wolfpack's Chloe Smith and Ashley Miller. Christy Sipes and Sophie Nelson defeated Gammie and Annette Rios by an 8-6 score.

Falcon and Sutherland teamed up for an 8-6 win over Furman's Amanda Murray and Bitetti to round out the scores from the day.

With a point system accounting for results in singles and doubles, Wilkins claimed third for the weekend in singles behind Princeton's Hilary Bartlett and Duke's Monica Turewicz. Wilkins was 3-1 on the weekend, including a win over ranked Illova and her lone loss coming to Bartlett.
