Women's Tennis Heads to Charlotte 49ers Invite This Weekend

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG women's tennis program heads to Charlotte, N.C. for the Charlotte 49ers Invite, Friday, Oct. 12. The three day tournament will conclude Sunday, Oct. 14.

"We're in the middle of the fall season where we want to continue playing well," said head coach Jeff Trivette. "This weekend we'll get a lot of play and practice. We have our two biggest dates in the fall coming up with our regionals in a week and a half and the Chapel Hill Tournament in about three weeks. Those are both the best teams in our region, and an opportunity for us to show what we can do. This weekend will be important as far as winning matches and gaining confidence."

The entire roster will be competing together for the first time this fall in Charlotte this weekend.

Senior Niltooli Wilkins (Burnsville, Minn./Homeschooled) leads the team in singles with a record of 6-2, as well as in doubles, 6-1, alongside senior Alex Whitehead (Victoria, Australia/Star of the Sea College)

The team has a current record of 29-24 in singles and 13-9 in doubles.

UNCG was last in action at the Wake Forest Invitational Oct. 5-7.
