Xavier Rutz takes fourth in 3000M to close action at Wake Forest Open
WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Xavier Rutz was UNC Greensboro’s top finisher of the afternoon with a fourth place finish in the men’s 3000 meter run as the UNCG track and field team concluded action at the Wake Forest Open on Saturday.
Rutz led a trio of Spartans in the men’s 3000 meter run and finished the event with a time of 8:39.71 to lead the UNCG participants. Freshman Robert Belcher was the next finisher with a time of 9:12.33 while Ryan Rodd and Ryan Solomon rounded out the field.
Ramon Jobson-Brown also tallied a Top 20 finish in the men’s long jump, posting a jump of 6.51 meters while Andrew Clyne placed 32nd in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:03.78.
The UNCG women had two runners in the 3000 meter run and were led by Tiffany Garber who tallied a 25th place finish with a time of 11:04.12 while teammate Caitlin Lenz took 44th place with a time of 12:23.47.
The Spartans will return to action March 28-29 at the Raleigh Relays.
