Emily Lindborg named Southern Conference Player of the Week

SPARTANBURG, SC – UNC Greensboro volleyball player Emily Lindborg has been named Southern Conference Player of the Week for her performance in UNCG’s two victories last week.

Lindborg, a sophomore middle blocker from Niles, MI, has been awarded the award for her efforts in UNCG’s 3-0 victory over Winston-Salem State and its 3-2 win over Georgia Southern in the Southern Conference opener for both squads. This is her first Player of the Week honor and is the first honor for UNCG since the 1997 season when both Becky Moore and Kelley Evan earned the honor.

In the 3-0 win over Winston-Salem State, Lindborg tallied six kills on nine attempts with only one error good for a season-high .556 hitting percentage. In the Spartans 3-2 win over Georgia Southern she tallied a career-high 17 kills with only two errors on 28 attempts. She also led the charge with a .536 hitting percentage on the afternoon. She is third on the team in kills with 128, leads the team in hitting percentage with .368 and is second on the team with 35 blocks.

The Spartans are back in action Tuesday night when they take on cross-town rival, North Carolina A&T. First serve is set for 6 pm at the Corbett Sports Center.
