Kaitlyn Nortz earns All-Southern Conference volleyball honors
CHATTANOOGA, TN – UNC Greensboro junior volleyball player Kaitlyn Nortz was awarded All-Southern Conference Second Team honors on Thursday by the conference coaches.
Nortz becomes the third Spartan to earn All-SoCon honors after former Spartan Theresa Hart earned first team honors last season and Kelly Boerstler earned first team honors in 1997.
Nortz, a Parma, OH native, has tallied 416 kills on the season and is averaging 4.07 kills per game and leads the team in blocks with 144 on the year. She helped lead UNCG to an 11-7 SoCon record, its best league record since joining the conference in 1997. She is tied for fourth on UNCG’s all-time kills list with 1,127 kills and is currently in third place on UNCG’s all-time blocks list with 365.
She is ranked seventh in the conference in hitting percentage with a .308 hitting percentage and is fourth in the league in blocks per game with 1.20. Nortz was recently named Southern Conference Player of the Week for her performance in UNCG’s two victories to close the regular season, including a 3-0 upset of Chattanooga.
The Spartans are currently 18-14 overall and concluded league play with an 11-7 record. UNCG opens Southern Conference Tournament action on Friday when they take on No. 3 Furman in quarterfinal action. First serve is set for 12:30 pm in McClellan Gym in Chattanooga, TN.
