UNCG’s Newman named to NCCSIA All-State squad

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCG senior Ariel Newman was named to the 2011 North Carolina Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State volleyball team, the organization announced on Thursday.

One of just two seniors on the team, Newman capped her collegiate career by leading the Spartans in total kills (334) and kills per set (3.04) during the 2011 season. She also posted 278 digs during the year for a 2.53 digs per set average.

The Greensboro, N.C. native finished her career with 25 double-doubles in 65 career matches. She made an incredible 62 starts in those 65 matches the last two years after transferring from VCU. Her career 3.00 kills per set average ranks seventh all-time in school history.
