UNCG announces spring volleyball dates
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG volleyball program will play in four spring tournaments in order to prepare for the 2012 fall season, head coach Patrick Nicholas announced on Friday.
"I think we have set up a very tough spring schedule against some good teams," said Nicholas. "I think it is what our young team needs and we are going to have a lot of fun with it and probably try a lot of things with our offense. These are some really, really strong tournaments and probably the toughest I have been a part of as a coach."
The Spartans will kick off the spring season on Saturday as they head to Duke for four matches. UNCG will face North Carolina at 9 a.m. and High Point at 12 p.m. The Spartans will wrap up the day against Catawba at 1 p.m. and UNC Charlotte at 3 p.m.
On March 24, UNCG will travel to another ACC foe as it participates in the NC State spring tournament. In addition to UNCG and NC State, High Point, Campbell, Davidson, Norfolk State and North Carolina Central will also compete.
UNCG will then take a week off before resuming competition on April 7 as it travels back to Duke for another tournament. In this tournament, the Spartans will face off against Duke, South Carolina, Wake Forest and UNC Wilmington.
The Spartans will wrap up the spring season at the Charlotte tournament. Davidson, Gardner-Webb, High Point and Wingate will also be competing at that tournament.
