Volleyball Continues 2012 Preseason Workouts

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG volleyball team reached its fifth day of preseason preparations Tuesday, turning in two practices inside Fleming Gymnasium.

The Spartans continued to work on ball control, defense and fundamentals as Friday's Blue-Gold Scrimmage approaches.

"Ball control is really important in our sport," head coach Patrick Nicholas said after the morning session. "We like to run a fast-paced and fun offense. Here at UNCG, we are all about skill and do a lot of technical training. We are also really trying to pick it up defensively."

Spartan fans will be able to catch their first glimpse of the squad Friday, Aug. 17 when it holds its annual Blue-Gold Scrimmage. First serve is slated for 7 p.m. inside Fleming Gymnasium and admission is free.

"We are really excited about the Blue-Gold Scrimmage on Friday," junior outside hitter Karrian Chambers said. "Our team has great chemistry and it will be fun to have some fans in the stands."
